Smoking Cessation

It is said that there are more than 4.5 billion smokers worldwide; certainly the volume of people contacting you this year for help with smoking cessation will be a substantial part of your workload, and yet this area can be the most complex to deal with. We all have a series of habits peculiar to us as individuals, which of course we include in everything that we do, especially with a stress-related behaviour, and these need to be addressed, usually in more than one session. This will probably be your largest area of referrals from the medical profession, which recognises hypnosis as a successful approach to smoking cessation. This one-day class aims to give you the tools to substantially improve your skills and ability to help your patient "Put It Out".

Syllabus

This individualised approach to smoking cessation is incredibly successful. The therapeutic intervention is comprehensively covered and scripts supplied.

Weight Control

Clinical hypnosis is often the last resort for slimmers, with most of our patients suffering a history of yoyo dieting, with the subsequent weight loss and gain and the inevitable distorted metabolism. Through distorted perception there is often the belief that weight loss should be easy, effortless and the responsibility of the therapist. The key to an effective treatment structure is to help your patient to understand what food is doing for them, and that permanent weight loss is achieved through a lifestyle change to a healthy eating plan, not for a period but for an enjoyable lifetime. How do we help the patient remain motivated during this difficult time of change?

Weight loss is a natural result of high self-esteem, personal acceptance and liking oneself. It takes time to help someone move toward this position. This masterclass will help you to empower your patient to be happy with themselves.
Syllabus

There are many approaches to controlling weight; this class is designed to help the therapist working with the patient who is eating for emotional reasons, otherwise known as head eating. The subject requires an innovative approach to change. Interactive and focused, the scripts are used to help the patient develop a relationship with themselves and gradually become less reliant on eating.

Rapid Cognitive Therapy

Due to the wealth of empirical research carried out on the behavioural therapies they are considered to be brief effective approaches to treating physical and emotional issues.

The behavioural model has been used in the medical profession for many years and we know how the application of hypnosis within any approach can aid in the acceptance of new behaviour, so this masterclass reviews the behavioural model and the therapeutic approaches derived from this approach to rapid and lasting change to your patient when coupled with the intervention of hypnotherapeutic techniques. This approach can be especially effective when the patient requires evidence that their flawed attitude is the cause of their emotional disturbance which inevitably leads to the desired change in behaviour.

Syllabus

Helping the patient to understand the part that they play in the errant behaviour, and showing the patient how to change, can be challenging and effective. Helping the patient to practise healthy thinking and behaviour usually is. This class is designed to help you to do just that.

Energy Intensity Channelling

We are now offering a two-day weekend course, a Practitioners Certificate in Energy Intensity Channelling, which develops the therapy Emotional Freedom Technique to include NLP and Hypnotherapy into a rapid approach to lasting change. There is now an extensive bank of empirical proof of the worth of EFT; however, I have found that the patient's experience can be further enhanced with our usual eclectic mix of therapeutic disciplines.

Further, I have noticed the development of hypniodal symptoms when using this approach with NLP, and so have developed an EFT induction, deepener and therapy with incredible results. The fee for this weekend is £180 and as you would expect offers a Practitioners Certificate and comprehensive handout. More to come on this approach, but we would advise that you book early as this therapy is quick and relatively easy to administer and so expect classes to be heavily subscribed. Once you have taught your patient the approach they will have a technique that may be used for the rest of their lives, although we are constantly updating and modifying the techniques used; allowing you to do the same for your patient.

Client-Centred Counselling

This one-day workshop has been designed to introduce the therapist to working within the phenomenological field of the client, to be involved in and led by the client's experience.

Another way to look at this approach might be to say that the therapist is no longer restricted by his or her training or understanding of technique, but taught to trust that the client brings his own skills and resources which might be drawn on and utilised by focusing on the client and not a therapeutic approach; understanding how to encourage the client to apply those unique attributes to their own lives whilst developing at his own pace. This approach is superb at allowing us to understand how to be with a client quietly and with confidence.

Famous for his three core conditions, empathy, congruence and unconditional regard, Rogers went on to develop these into six conditions for therapeutic change; in fact Rogers posited the theory of change and the working alliance through the core conditions; which is what students felt they had little understanding of, how to develop a working relationship and how to develop that working alliance into one of therapeutic change. Rogers believed that Empathy, the ability to quickly establish an empathic understanding with your client; Congruence, the ability to be transparently open and genuine with your client without hiding behind a professional persona and Unconditional Regard, caring for your client regardless of their concerns, that the client is unique and in the presence of the therapist, experiences being cared for through acceptance, of his self, habits and behaviour, feeling unjudged; these are preconditions for a Working Alliance and Therapeutic Change.

We believe that Linda's workshop will offer you the experience of these theories and support you in developing your practice through these tried and proven ways of being. Whilst the handout is comprehensive for this day, this approach has meaning when experienced through Linda and so her approach is largely experiential.

If you are looking to develop your ability in working with people and helping them to change, regardless of your discipline, orientation or career; this day would be of great benefit to you.
